Welcome to my blog. Most of the illustrations on this site are the stuff I do for fun on my own time and not for clients. To see my professional work please go to www.studioharpster.com
My art tip this week is to create a sketchbook with other artists work. That's right, take the work of artists you admire and images that you love and tape them into a sketchbook so you can easily reference it later on. I also save images from the internet that I love in a special folder. When I have a bunch of them I print them off on a full sheet of sticker paper. Cut them out and stick them in your sketchbook. Refer to your book from time to time to study techniques used and a great way to get inspiration.
These are the screen shots I took as I worked on the dog illustration. Please feel free to ask any questions you might have on how I work. I just didn't feel like explaining the steps. It really is just to show how I make changes along the way as I work.
This is the latest illustration that I am working on for my portfolio revamp. With work being as slow as it is it is a great time to get some good portfolio pieces done. Oh, I still have some more work to do on this piece. I'll also publish the final piece with the tutorial.
Here are some of my sketches of people I see in stores and at the park. I just sketch them as quick as I can really rough and really loose and then work on them form memory when I get home.
