I'm always talking to people that have ideas for books or want to draw for a living...they say "I want to do what you do." "I want to draw for a living like you." "I want to get a book published like you did."
The thing is I'm looking at people in my field and I want what they have! I want the movie, I want the famous character, I want he hit book on the NY Times best seller list. It takes work...and here is the inspiration.

Wow. Great post Steve. This really hits home. I can honestly say that I am on of those people who has said I want to do this or that...but not put enough work into to achieve those goals. The analogy of the wanting something so bad like wanting air to breath really opened my eyes on what I need to do to achieve my goals in this wide world of art. Thanks for posting this up Steve. For me this was a big time wake up call on how hard I have to work. Nothing comes to us we have to get out there and want it bad. Such a great post.
Exactly! I am fortunate to have a career where I draw for a living, but I still want more. I want to have a hit book and a character made into a movie and so much more. Its easy to make it to a point and rest so this gives me the kick in the ass I need to get working harder.
Bobby Chui posted this vidoe on twitter and it got me motivated and inspired. Just had to share it.
by the way I listened to this twice last night and four times today. So don't just listen to it one time. Post it on your blog and listen to it every day, several times a day.
